The Role
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Hadoop Developer to join our growing Big Data team. You will play a vital role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining our Hadoop ecosystem to support our large-scale data processing needs.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement efficient and scalable Hadoop applications using MapReduce, YARN, and other core Hadoop frameworks.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to Hadoop development best practices.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand data processing requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Leverage your expertise in Hadoop ecosystem tools like Hive, Pig, HBase, and Sqoop to extract, transform, and load data efficiently.
- Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot the Hadoop cluster for performance and resource utilization.
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines for data ingestion, processing, and storage.
- Ensure data security and access control within the Hadoop environment.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in the Hadoop ecosystem and Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka).
- May participate in developing and maintaining data quality checks and monitoring procedures.
- Contribute to building and maintaining technical documentation for Hadoop applications and infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- X years of experience in Big Data development with a focus on Hadoop.
- In-depth knowledge of Hadoop architecture, core frameworks (MapReduce, YARN), and distributed processing concepts.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Java for developing Hadoop applications.
- Experience with Hadoop ecosystem tools (Hive, Pig, HBase, Sqoop) for data manipulation and storage.
- Experience with distributed file systems like HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System).
- Experience with cluster management tools like YARN (Yet Another Resource Negotiator).
- Experience with Linux operating systems and familiarity with the command line.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality code.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus Points
- Experience with Big Data technologies like Spark, Kafka, and Flume.
- Experience with cloud-based Hadoop deployments (e.g., AWS EMR, Azure HDInsight).
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for Big Data applications.
- Experience with data security best practices in a Big Data environment.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) for automating Hadoop tasks.
- Experience with data visualization tools for exploring and analyzing Big Data.
