The Role
We are seeking a skilled and creative jQuery Developer to join our front-end development team. You will play a key role in developing interactive and user-friendly web experiences using jQuery, collaborating closely with designers and other developers to bring our web projects to life.
Responsibilities
- Develop dynamic and user-friendly features using jQuery, adhering to best practices and writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Manipulate the DOM (Document Object Model) to create interactive elements and animations using jQuery’s rich library of functions.
- Utilize AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) techniques with jQuery to asynchronously fetch data and update web pages without full reloads.
- Integrate jQuery plugins and libraries to extend functionality and enhance user experience.
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate design mockups and prototypes into interactive web pages using jQuery.
- Write unit tests (using frameworks like Jasmine or Jest) to ensure code quality and functionality of jQuery components.
- Optimize jQuery code for performance and responsiveness across different browsers and devices.
- Troubleshoot and debug jQuery code to resolve issues and maintain a smooth user experience.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in jQuery and front-end development trends.
- May contribute to technical documentation for jQuery components and functionalities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- X years of experience as a jQuery Developer or similar front-end development role.
- Strong understanding of JavaScript fundamentals (syntax, data structures, functions, DOM manipulation).
- In-depth knowledge of jQuery library, its core functionalities, and best practices for using it effectively.
- Experience with AJAX and asynchronous data handling using jQuery.
- Familiarity with integrating jQuery plugins and libraries for various functionalities.
- Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and web development best practices is essential.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality code.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus Points
- Experience with front-end build tools and task runners (e.g., Webpack, Gulp).
- Experience with progressive web app (PWA) development.
- Experience with a popular JavaScript framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) in addition to jQuery.
- Understanding of UI/UX design principles and user experience best practices.
- Experience with accessibility best practices for web development.
