The Role
We are seeking a skilled and results-oriented DataStage Developer to join our Data Integration team. You will play a critical role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using IBM DataStage to support our data warehouse and business intelligence needs.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-performance, scalable, and reusable DataStage jobs for data extraction, transformation, and loading tasks.
- Effectively utilize various DataStage stages (sources, transformers, targets) to manipulate and integrate data from diverse sources.
- Implement complex data transformations using DataStage features like expressions, filters, joins, lookups, and aggregations.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness throughout the ETL process.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive job documentation, including data lineage and job parameters.
- Debug and troubleshoot DataStage jobs to resolve data integration issues efficiently.
- Optimize existing DataStage jobs for performance and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts, Database Administrators, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in IBM DataStage and related data integration technologies.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain a high standard of code quality.
- May assist with testing and deployment of DataStage jobs to production environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- X years of experience as a DataStage Developer or similar ETL developer role.
- Proven experience in designing and developing complex ETL processes using IBM DataStage.
- In-depth knowledge of DataStage concepts, stages, and functionalities.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing and data integration principles.
- Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and querying.
- Experience with data profiling and data quality control techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus Points
- Experience with parallel processing and clustered DataStage environments.
- Experience with data lineage tools and techniques.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python) for automating DataStage tasks.
- Experience with data governance and data security best practices.
- Experience with cloud-based data integration solutions (e.g., AWS DataStage).
